According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 79,000 deaths are attributed to excessive alcohol use each year making it the third leading lifestyle-related cause of death in the United States. In Georgia from 2001-2005, 157 youth died each year as a result of alcohol-related illness or injury.
