Chewing Tobacco and Cigarillos

Refuse to lose a loved one to tobacco use. Smoking cessation is a process. Quitting the use of tobacco may take practice. The short-term and long-term health and economic benefits are worthwhile.

The use of smokeless tobacco products is not a safe alternative to smoking. Smokeless or non-cigarette tobacco products such as cigarillos, cigars, chewing tobacco and snuff also have serious health consequences. Similar to cigarette smoking, smokeless tobacco products cause various forms of cancer including: oral (mouth), stomach, lung and esophageal. Cigar smokers are at increased risk for heart disease and respiratory conditions such as: COPD.

Effective treatment options exist that can significantly increase rates of successful tobacco use quit attempts and long-term abstinence. Talk to your doctor, nurse, and pharmacist about safe and effective options on how to stop smoking.
